Body Cleansing Diet Tips

Why You Should Eliminate Toxins in Your Body
Every day, there are numerous environmental pollutants that accumulate as toxins in our bodies. A strong pollutant found most everywhere these days consist of truck, car, and bus emissions.

Have you ever been stuck in traffic behind a truck or bus and felt like you could hardly breathe, especially if you had the windows down? And if you've ever gone outside a major metropolitan airport to stretch your legs while waiting, you know what I'm talking about - the air doesn't look fit to breathe and smells equally as bad.

Pesticides are additional toxic offenders. And in our homes, aerosol cleaning products used can add to the toxins absorbed by our body. Not to be overlooked, poor dietary habits can create deficiencies which leave your body in poor condition.

All of these factors contribute to a variety of health conditions.

Using a body cleansing diet is one way to defend yourself and flush some of these toxins from your body and give you a fresh start. The same as with spring house cleaning, a periodic body cleansing diet does your body good!

When the cold months end and spring is in the air, many of us get in the mood for a good and thorough spring cleaning, chasing away the accumulation of spider webs on the outside of the windows, cleaning up the garage and closets and doing tasks that require opening the windows, such as oven cleaning.

A century ago, people also gave their bodies a 'spring cleaning', using herbs and various elixirs designed to clean the body. Somehow this practice fell by the wayside as modern medicine progressed, with a solution to every ailment. However, a yearly body cleansing diet is perhaps more necessary than it was a century ago.

Here are just a few ways to refresh your body's organs and provide a boost to your immune system with a body cleansing diet:

The liver and kidneys are the main storage and processing organs for any toxins that accumulate within your body. Let's cover these first off. The root of the dandelion plant is an extraordinary tonic for your liver, that detoxifies and strengthens the function of this most important organ. Any body cleansing diet should include this powerful and safe herb. If your liver function is diminished by a condition such as the classic 'fatty' liver, use another safe remedy of milk thistle seed, which though acting as a tonic, also has the proven ability to regenerate liver cells.

For keeping your kidneys in peak condition, cranberries are an excellent way to disinfect the kidneys and flush out accumulated toxins. Adding cranberries to your body cleansing diet decreases your risk of urinary tract and other bacterial infections of the kidneys. If you like cranberry juice, a glass a day helps keep the doctor away. As an alternative, you can purchase powdered cranberries in capsules at a health food store to maintain the health of your kidneys.

When being down with the flu, one reason we feel so bad is because an excess of toxins are released into the blood stream, resulting in those terrible muscle aches and pains. At these times, burdock root provides a way to rapidly and throughly cleanse your bloodstream.

In moist and damp winter climates, you may develop respiratory conditions, such as bronchitis or pneumonia. Within the right circumstances, these could become chronic, and eventually progress to even more serious and even possible fatal conditions. Although you may stay healthy through the cold months without becoming ill, a good body cleansing diet should cover issues relating to the lungs. For this, a combination of elecampane root, pleurisy root and a dash of cayenne pepper, in approximately a 8:2:1 ratio respectively, restores your lungs and cleans out any pockets of mucous secretion you may not have even noticed.

You can get your immune system response in peak condition with Echinacea, that's now widely known to fend off colds, when taken at the first sign of symptoms.

By implementing a body cleansing diet once or twice a year will help keep you healthy and hearty well into your older years. Remember we all have only one body to see us through a lifetime and it's a personal responsibility to provide ourself with the best care we can. Also, remember to drink plenty of water each day to keep flushing out those toxins on a daily basis.
